At the Diakove checkpoint, border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment together with customs officers prevented the illegal transportation of tobacco products to Romania.

A 41-year-old resident of Transcarpathia, who arrived at the checkpoint by a car Mercedes made in 2006, tried to smuggle cigarettes.

The Ukrainian packed all the structural cavities of his vehicle with excise-free cigarettes. The offender was exposed thanks to the use of an endoscope. In total, border guards seized almost 1 thousand packs of cigarettes from the smuggler's caches.

The cigarettes and the car were seized from the Transcarpathian. Their value is currently being established.
